Handmade Felt Baby Shoes and Other Pretty Things

yummy yummy in my tummy August 30, 2009

Here are my daughter´s favourite cookies which I thought we might share with you. She has a great time ,as I’m sure you can imagine, squidging all the ingredients together

The basic recipe is from Annabel Karmel

Instead of the white chocolate and cranberries I have added cut up little chunks of dried apricots(the brown ones), chocolate buttons and orange flavouring, and lemon flavouring(I’m sure real oranges and lemons would have been better but I’m not up to much when it comes to that sort of thing) and they are delicious and so easy and quick to make, and if I can make them then they really are easy.  We had them at my daughter´s 3rd birthday and they were all gone before I got a look in!

Here is an order that I have just finished and shows another example of a bigger size. These must be about a size 11 I think, and are for a friends niece in Bogota, Columbia…Hola Manuela! I really like how they’ve turned out and they are going to look great on I just know it..lets hope they aren’t too big as they look enoooooormous in comparison with my baby ones!

Big Foot August 25, 2009

Right then! I went to the felt shop yesterday and bought some beautiful new colours to make a pair of slippers for my 3 year old. They are a tad too wide but still look very cute on although I wasn’t allowed to take a photo of her in them or it as the case may be so far. The inside is a really nice kind of petrol blue, underneath the sock! You get the idea though! I put some fleece in the soles to give them a little bit of padding and the soles will have some non-slip type of grip.

Sorry the photo is a bit dark, shall post a better one when I can.

pastel palette August 24, 2009

The pastel version done and dusted. This time I didn’t need to use toothpicks however I think they were easier to use than the brush I bought!

felted wool

Filed under: baby shoes — maitas @ 10:14 am

This is the result of the felted wool experiment. My husband likes these the best out of all the shoes I’ve done..not sure if that’s a good thing or not but I still like them all the same!

funky pegs August 23, 2009

Filed under: household bits & bobs — maitas @ 4:35 pm

So here are the pegs I wanted to do yesterday…aren’t they cool! I did a different design on the front and the back in acrylic paint and then covered them with an acrylic varnish. Due to the lack of a small paintbrush all decoration was done with a toothpick(pff!).

They can be used in lots of different ways…for…hanging up clothes(!), hanging childrens artwork in their room, holding food bags together in the kitchen,  to decoratively close a present…..

I’m going to do a  pastel version tomorrow if I have time. Yummy!
